Welcome to St Paul Lutheran Church, Paducah, Kentucky! We are a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Our church believes, teaches, and confesses the whole of God's Word in its truth and purity, and administers the Sacraments according to the commands of Christ Jesus. We worship and serve the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who, by His grace, has created, redeemed, and sanctifies us.  Come and hear of His grace toward us!

Advent Midweek Services

"O sing to the Lord a new song!"

The coming of Jesus Christ was marked by singing. When Christ's forerunner, John the Baptist, was born, his aged father Zechariah broke into song: "Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel for he has visited and redeemed his people." When the Virgin Mary, pregnant with the Son of God, visited her cousin Elizabeth she sang out: "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." When Simeon held the infant Savior at the temple his voice rang out: "Lord, now let your servant go in peace..."

Join us on Wednesdays in Advent at noon or at 6:30 pm to hear these songs proclaimed and to sing them with our own voices as we await our Lord's second coming.

Wednesday December 3rd: The Song of Mary (Magnificat)
Wednesday December 10th: The Song of Zechariah (Benedictus)
Wednesday December 17th: The Song of Simeon (Nunc Dimittis)

Divine Service and Sunday Worship Schedule

Sunday Mornings:  8:00 & 10:45 am

"Our Lord is the Lord who serves.  Jesus Christ came into the flesh not to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many...Our Lord serves us today through His holy Word and Sacraments.  Through these means He comes among us to deliver His forgiveness and salvation...The Lord's service calls forth our service - in sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving to Him and in loving service to one another." (from the Introduction to our hymnal, Lutheran Service Book)

Every Lord's Day we gather together to hear God's Word read and proclaimed and to make use of the Holy Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper).  In these ways God strengthens us to live by faith and love.  We respond to His service to us with songs, hymns, and spiritual songs, making use of the rich heritage we have received from many times and places and making it our own.  We use orders of worship drawn from our hymnal that direct our hearts and prayers to God's Word.
